The Dixie Boys All Stars are headed back to Union County with a fourth place finish in the state tournament.

The All Stars remained undefeated heading into Tuesday night’s game after a 3-2 win over Aynor on Monday. Coach Scott Kendrick said the game was a pitcher’s duel with Bryan Good and Quay Morman sharing time on the mound for Union County. The All Star’s three runs came by way of a three-run homer courtesy of T.J Jeter. Jeter also won the tournament’s home run derby challenge over the weekend.

On Tuesday night, however, Hanahan handed Union County its first loss, 12-2.

“We weren’t hitting,” said Kendrick. “We had no problems in the field, they just used some timely hits to jump on us early.”

On Wednesday, Union County was eliminated by Aynor, bringing its run for a State title to a halt.

“We faced some pretty good pitching,” said Kendrick. “I’m just real proud of how the kids conducted themselves throughout the tournament. We’re proud of all of them.”

Kendrick also wanted to thank his assistant coaches and the Dixie Boys Board of Directors.

“John Glenn and Timmy Caldwell have been a big help coaching these guys,” said Kendrick. “We want to thank the board members, especially Tommy Ford for being so supportive. This is a good group of boys and they represented the county well.”
