JONESVILE — Lewis Porter, 84, 1217 West Springs Highway, Freeman’s Trailer Park, Lot 8, Jonesville, SC, husband of Brenda A. Porter, died after a brief illness at Wallace Thomson Hospital on July 12, 2012.

Mr. Porter was born in Jonesville on June 2, 1928, a son of the late Ike Porter Jr. and Hattie Mae Smith Porter. He attended Union County Public Schools and was retired from American Fast Print where he was employed as hyster driver. He was a former member of the Home Boys and Home Girls Club and was a member of Mark Hill Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Porter is survived by his sons, Stanley (Jessica) Aiken Jr. and Dominick Aiken, both of Spartanburg, SC; a godson, Wayne Wix of the home; a stepgrandchild, Khamien Aiken of Spartanburg, SC; a sister, Claree Hames (Rev. Charles Hames) of Jonesville, SC; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. J.A. Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Mark Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the home in Jonesville and at 309 N. Evans St., Union.

Visitation will be at Union Community Funeral Home Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 1-7 p.m.
