UNION — Mr. Marion Robert Malone Jr., 72, husband of Mrs. Judy Beard Malone, died Saturday, July 7, 2012.

Born Aug. 29, 1939, a son of the late Marion Malone Sr. and Virginia “Mabel” Gibbs Malone. Mr. Malone was employed with Union Mills for 34 years and was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 53 years are two sons, Marion Robert Malone III and wife Melinda, Jeffrey Scott Malone; one sister, Melinda Thomas and husband Eugene, all of Union; four grandchildren, Johnnie Lee Irick and husband Jonathan of Laurens, Christopher Malone of Union, Robbie Malone and wife Ingrid of Atlanta Ga., Heather Robertson and husband Brad of Boiling Springs SC; and two great-grandchildren Abbie and Noah Robertson, and a number of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his devoted Daschund “Rudy.”

Graveside services were held Monday, July 9, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Union Memorial Gardens with Pastor Kevin Dalton officiating. The family received friends at the home following the service.

Serving as pallbearers were Chistopher Malone, Robbie Malone, Brad Robertson, Jonathan Irick, Pat Blackwell, and Bart Woodard.

The family would also like to thank Harmony Hospice for their love and support during Mr. Malone’s illness. The nurses of Harmony Hospice, Carla Hill, Markeda Epps, Nikki Humphies, Victoria Spencer were asked to sit in a group.
