GREENVILLE — A rising Union County High School (UCHS) senior will perform at The Peace Center on July 20 as part of the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Summer Dance Program.

Kennedy Brianna Crosby has been a dance student for 12 years, having taken classes in Tap, Jazz, Clogging and, her favorite, Hip-Hop at The Dance Academy and Ulitimate Rhythm in Union. She is currently studying ballet at Ballet Spartanburg.

In February, Kennedy auditioned at the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville against students from across South Carolina for one of the few select spots in the school’s Summer Dance Program. The program offers intensive training in ballet and modern dance.

Kennedy is the daughter of James and Kimberly Crosby of Union and has a brother, Brennan, who is a rising junior at USC-Upstate.

“We are extremely proud of her,” Kimberly Crosby said. “This is a tremendous opportunity for her as she plans to major in Dance Education at the University of South Carolina.”

The Summer Dance Program will present a final dance performance at The Peace Center on Friday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. Kennedy will be among the dancers performing a variety of dance styles they’ve studied over the summer.

Tickets for the performance can be ordered on the Peace Center website, at the box office or by phone at 1-864-467-3000.
