Sis had an infection in her big toe, sometimes it was unbearable. She went to the doctor and she advised her to have the infected toe removed. Sis agreed and went to the hospital for the surgery. She was in surgery about two hours when the doctor came and said to her, “Mrs. Haney, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is we cut off the wrong big toe, the good news is that there is nothing wrong with your other big toe.”

Interesting Question

It is 11 p.m.; do you know where your goat is?

Thank You

Sis and I would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wallace Thomson Hospital, those on the third floor and also the nurses and staff in ICU. They were good to Sis while she was there, and we are grateful to have a good hospital in Union.

We wish a happy birthday to Ada Adams, Carolyn, Belue, and Tim Gregory. Hope you guys have many more.

Local Prayer Concerns

Susie Ramsey, Jack Roark, Jamie Palmer, Kim Peay, Rev. Alan West, Lawana Moss, L.C. Johnson, Louise Vaughn, Tee Farr, Ruby Helms, Sis Haney, Joyce Bishop, Doris Moss, Mike Brewington, Kevin Brewington, and Dot Gault.

Cause For Concern

David Knox is upset with the power line folks. He tells me that they are spraying a powerful weed and brush killer along the power lines. Davis says this is killing off lots of honey bees that are very much needed for pollination. They used to cut the right of ways with a bush axe and a bush hog. We need our honey bees.

Another Birthday

Ruby Harris recently celebrated a birthday, she tells me that she is looking for a sugar daddy to help with the dishes and the kids.

Fact

Did you know that on Tuesday, July 10, 1958 an earthquake hit north of Juneau, Alaska causing a tidal wave that completely covered a small island? Now, you know.

Good Food

Have you tried the hamburger steak at the Lockhart Café? It is located behind the post office in beautiful downtown Lockhart. Tell them I sent you.

Insight

Ralph Harris, over in Cherokee County passes this one on; “It is but a few short years from diapers to dignity and from dignity to decomposition.” By Don Herold.

Births

Watch this column for new babies being born. We will be having a new church member at Fosters Chapel UMC. Mrs. Amy Austin will see to that. Another child to be born up near Lockhart Junction, I will keep you informed.

Sis Votes Against A Needless Expenditure

Sis was leaving church last Sunday when Rev. Glenn Ribelin stopped and said, “Sis, I was planning to call a board meeting to vote on buying a new chandelier for the sanctuary, and I was wondering how you would vote.’

Sis told the preacher, “Well, Reverend, I would have to vote no, because we need new lights, and besides, I’ll bet no one in the church knows how to play one.”

Open Invitation

“Guitar” Thompson wants you all to come to Harris Street, just below the former Ace Hardware and hear some good singing on Friday nights. It is free and we have lots of fun.

Another Insight

Mr. J.D. Bright says this: The thing to try when all else fails is again, giving it another try is better than an alibi.

Wisdom

I recommend you take care of the minutes, for hours will take care of themselves.

Till next time
