UNION — Mr. John Thomas McCorkle, 51, husband of Sheila Gibson McCorkle, 105 Vaughan Road, Union passed away Saturday June 30, 2012 at his home.

Mr. McCorkle was born in Chester, Dec. 17, 1960 a son of Reginal Ralph McCorkle and his wife Mary of Chester and Brenda Miller McCorkle also of Chester. He was a graduate of Chester High School and attended York Technical College.

Mr. McCorkle was employed as a district field representative with Chester Metropolitan Water District from 1979 till he retired in 2005 and was owner and operator of H2O Distribution, LLC. He had worked as a private contractor with the Water District for the past seven years. A certified Class A water operator, Mr. McCorkle was also licenced as an instructor in water distribution courses. He was certified at flow meter testing and back flow prevention devices. He served as former board member of the Rocky Creek Water Co. and also was certified as a Hazwoper Class A inspector.

Mr. McCorkle was an avid gardener and loved riding his Harley Davidson Duece with his wife for different charities. He was a former member of the Iron Butts Motorcycle Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife, father, stepmother and mother are two stepdaughter, Chasity M Wilson and husband Charlie of Blacksburg and Roseanne Sullens and fiancee Ronnie D. Head of Chesnee; a sister, Bonnie Goings and husband Walt of Chester; a brother, Robert McCorkle and wife Nancy of Chester; grandchildren: Kailee Rector, Graison Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Cody Wilson and Joshua Head; a special nephew, Ryan McCorkle; special friend and motorcycle buddy Steve Jessop and family of Chester; special beloved pets, Mufasa, Garfield and especially Sabrina, the Yorkie.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Donna Eidson.

Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:30-3 p.m. in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Spartanburg County Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family will be at the home 105 Vaughan Road, Union.
