Freedom is wonderful privilege we enjoy here in America. Ashamedly, we probably are guilty of taking it for granted sometimes. Former Vice-President Dick Cheney once said, “It is easy to take liberty for granted when you have never had it taken from you.” The majority of us have never been in physical, moral, or social bondage, so therefore we can’t really appreciate our freedom we enjoy as American citizens. We enjoy freedom that other countries do not have.

There are a set of rules and standards that all American are supposed to live by. We elect officials to make and enforce these rules. However, we would all have to agree that the America is not where she used to be, and certainly not what our forefathers intended for us to be. I am only 40 years old but I can tell you that a lot of things have changed from when I was an 8-year-old boy. Some say this change is for the better. I would have to disagree with that because the way I see it, these rules and standards have not been raised, rather they have been lowered.

As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, I realize that I am in a minority group. What I mean is that America as a whole may profess Christianity, but it surely does not practice it. We live in the Bible belt but we have seen things come to pass in recent days that I never dreamed I would see come to pass. I am praying that God will move on the hearts of people, not to just want to see America turn back to God, but I am praying that a remnant of God’s children will take America back from this road she is heading down. We need to put legs on our prayers and take action and fight for America to turn back to God.

I understand what real freedom is all about. You see, I was in bondage; the bondage of sin, and I could not escape from it on my own. I tried but there was not anything I could do to free myself. I first had to come to the realization that Jesus is the only person that could save me from this bondage. I believed in His death, burial, and glorious resurrection and it was then that I believed that I experienced true freedom for the first time. If we want to continue to enjoy what we have in America, we must look, lean, trust, and obey a set of rules and standards that God has set. These rules and standards that we are to follow are what in known as The Holy Bible! Until next time, God bless you and God bless America.
