UNION — Mrs. Betty McAbee Blakely, 83, widow of John William Blakely, Jr., formerly of Union, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Stockbridge, GA.

Mrs. Blakely was born in Chester, June 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Ezekiel M. McAbee and Eva Lee McAbee. She was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Joan B. Hardcastle and husband Louis, Charlotte B. Mascaro and husband Bob, Caroline B. Lee and husband Smitty, all of Atlanta, GA, and Mary B. Frank and husband Randall of Norfolk, VA; one sister, Frances Giddens; two brothers, Mac McAbee and Freddie McAbee all of Union; nine grandchildren, Eugene William Frank, John Christopher Scarboro, Patricia Joan Scarpino, Amy Frank-Williams, Benjamin Blakely Scarboro, Lindsey White Britt, Floyd Smith Lee, John William Blakely Lee, and Noah Wyatt Lee; 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Steve McAbee. Burial will be in Grace United Methodist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Blakely’s grandsons and son-in-laws.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
