The Buffalo Opera House

Have you heard about the famous Buffalo Opera House? I have been out of town and run into people who asked about the Buffalo Opera House. When Wayne Williams passed away, the Opera House halted its productions. But Wayne’s widow, Brenda Williams, knew that her husband would want the tradition to continue.

So the Buffalo Opera House is back in operation. Mrs. Boot McMillian of Linersville Road said that the Buffalo Opera House is showing from 7-10 p.m. or so every Thursday night. The Buffalo Opera House is located off Linersville Road, on Dana Tara Lane in Buffalo. Lots of musical talent, great gospel and country music in a relaxing atmosphere. And it is all FREE!

Remember, Thursdays at 7 p.m. on Dana Tara Lane. So we will see you there.

The Night Mommy And Daddy Died

Dad comes home drunk and mad. He pulls out a gun and shoots his wife. Then he turns the gun on himself and pulls the trigger. The little girl sits behind the couch crying. The police came and took the little girl to a new family and she went to her first Sunday School at church.

She walked past a building and saw a picture of Jesus on the cross. The little then asked the teacher, “How did that man get off the cross?” The teacher replied, “He never did.” Then the little girl argued and said, “Yes He did because the night that my mommy and daddy died, He sat next to me behind the couch. He told me everything was going to be alright.”

You say that cannot happen. I say “nothing is impossible with God and Jesus promises that He stands beside us every day.”

Music Camp

Buffalo United Methodist Church is hosting choir camp for grades one through 12 and you do not have to attend BUMC to attend, everyone is welcome. “L.O.S.T. But Now I’m Found!” is this year’s dramatic musical and is about castaways finding themselves lost on an island. They see several paths that they can take looking for salvation, but sadly each path that is appealing leads to disaster. Finally, they choose the path that is narrow and less traveled, and it leads them to salvation-Jesus.

Camp will begin Monday, July 9-Friday, July 13 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday, July 14 at 9 a.m. with program at 10 a.m.

Lunch and recreation will be provided Monday through Friday. Each participant will be asked to pay for the cost of a t-shirt to be worn on Saturday. Rev. Kevin Dalton is pastor of BUMC and may be reached at 427-7214. If you have any questions about camp please call 427-5273.

Protect Yourself

The recent tragedy of a young woman being kidnapped and eventually killed; after she had repeatedly given the kidnapper a wrong pin to her ATM card. If she knew the method below, she could have been saved. So it is important to let you know if you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your pin number in backwards or reverse.

For example, if your pin number if 1234, then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. This information was recently broadcast on FOX TV and it states that it is seldom used because people do not know this important information. Knowing this information can possibly save your life one day.

Guns & Women

The men of Union County love to hunt. Did you ever wonder why men prefer guns over women? Well, I have thoroughly investigated this puzzling question and found the TOP 10 REASONS why men prefer guns over women. And here we go…

#10 — You can trade an old 44 for a new 22.

#9 — You can keep one gun at home and have another for when you’re on the road.

#8 — If you admire a friend’s gun and tell him so, he will probably let you try it out a few times.

#7 — Your primary gun doesn’t mind if you keep another gun for a backup.

#6 — Your gun will stay with you even if you run out of ammo.

#5 — A gun doesn’t take up a lot of closet space.

#4 — Guns function normally every day of the month.

#3 — A gun doesn’t ask, “Do these new grips make me look fat?”

#2 — A gun doesn’t mind if you go to sleep after you use it.

And the Number One reason Why Men Prefer Guns over women…..

#1 — You can buy a silencer for a gun!

Prayer Concerns

Do you believe in the power of prayer? I sure do because I see and hear about prayers answered every day. God tells us in Luke 11:8 to be persistent in our prayers. Are you persistent in your prayer requests?

If I knew everyone who had a prayer request and everyone who is facing a medical situation, my journal would be pages long. Yet, I am aware of some people who were brought to my attention. Let’s commit ourselves to pray for: Janna Jordan, Peggy Goins, Terry and Eddie Howell, Thomas Boulware, Don Moore, Lorraine Vinson, Janice Babb, Babe Scott, Irene Abrams, Lee Sanders, Nellie Lawson, Mickey Gowan, Ricky Boulware, Henry Richardson, Pete Brock, Shammaine Kamonera, Bayly Ebner, and Johnny Sinclair.

Our Humble Condolences

go to the family of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Grogan Lawson, 89, widow of Wallace Bogan Lawson, 542 Meadow Woods Road, Buffalo, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 15, 2012, AND to the family of Ms. Mary Inman Wilburn, 69, 3116 Buffalo-West Spring Hwy, Buffalo, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at her home.

What Causes Arthritis?

As I get older I am constantly fighting a war with arthritis. I asked my orthopedic doctor “what causes arthritis?” He answered my question by telling me a story with a moral attached:

A drunk man who smelled like beer sat down on a subway next to a priest.

The man’s tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick, and a half-empty bottle of gin was sticking out of his torn coat pocket.

He opened his newspaper and began reading.

After a few minutes the man turned to the priest and asked, “Say Father, what causes arthritis?”

The priest replies, “My Son, it’s caused by loose living, being with cheap, wicked women, too much alcohol, contempt for your fellow man, sleeping around with prostitutes and lack of a bath.”

The drunk muttered in response “Well, I’ll be doggone!” Then returned to his paper.

The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the man and apologized.

“I’m very sorry… I didn’t mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?”

The drunk answered, “I don’t have it, Father. I was just reading here that the Pope does.”

MORAL: Make sure you understand the question before offering the answer.

I Need Your Help

It seems that the older that I become, the more questions I have about LIFE. I will list a few questions below and some more in another journal. I sure would be appreciative if someone would answer my questions for me. So here are a few of the questions of LIFE that have constantly bothered me:

How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America?

When I was young we used to go ‘skinny dipping,’ now I just ‘chunky dunk.’

I recently signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose fitting clothing, I wouldn’t have signed up in the first place!

Wouldn’t it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press ‘Ctrl Alt Delete’ and start all over? AMEN, AMEN!

I have come to realize that marriage changes passion. Suddenly you’re in bed with a relative.

I have come to the conclusion: “Don’t argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.”
