What began as a harassment complaint ended with a man under arrest for allegedly carrying a gun unlawfully.

Daveus Lamonte Boler, 18, 4879 English Avenue, Carlisle, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with unlawful carrying of a pistol.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Wednesday evening to a residence on O’Shields Street in reference to a complaint about suspicious persons. When he arrived, the officer spoke with a young woman who said she’d been walking from Wallace Thomson Hospital when a silver car pulled up to her. She said the two black males in the car started to harass her. The young woman said they continued to follow her as she walked down the street. She told the officer the vehicle was parked on Ravenscroft Street.

The officer then went to Ravenscroft Street where he found the vehicle with the two men sitting inside. When the officer parked his patrol car and got out, the report states the two men got out of their car as well. The officer then told the men to put their hands on the hood of their vehicle. One of the men was identified as Boler and the officer advised him and the other man that he was there because the young woman had said they were harassing her. The other man told the officer that they did speak to the girl and asked her for her phone number, but when she didn’t show any interest they left her alone.

The report states the officer then asked Boler, who’d been sitting in the driver’s seat, if there was anything in the car. Boler said there was a gun under the driver’s seat. The officer then asked Boler for consent to search the vehicle and was given it. In the ensuing search, the officer found a black, caliber 22LR (Long Rifle) Model RG23 pistol with a brown handle under the front edge of the driver’s seat. The pistol was loaded when it was recovered by the officer.

The officer then informed Boler that he was under arrest for the unlawful carrying of a pistol. He told Boler that the pistol should have been in a locked compartment.

In searching Boler, the report states the officer found a box of 22LR ammunition in his left front pants pocket. Boler was then transported to jail while the man who’d been riding with him was given a contact warning by the officer.
