Have you ever said or heard someone else say, “I’ve talked to them until I’m blue in the face?” We have all felt that way at some point. What that means is simply that I have tried to get through by explaining or expressing the way I feel but to no avail. It may be better said as “words falling on deaf ears.”

Well there are people I have personally talked with numerous times and it seems as if I couldn’t make them understand. I try to express what I feel is best for them with a heart of love and concern, but yet it just doesn’t get through.

The Lord taught me something and believe me, it helps. It is not to be my mission to attempt to straighten out everyone. It is not my place to try to correct, convict, or connect with people. I am simply to speak the truth and pray that God’s Holy Spirit will do the rest. You see, when we can’t get through that hard exterior, God can. When our words fall on deaf ears, God speaks to the heart. When we try to explain our thoughts, God gives understanding. In 2 Timothy 2:7 the apostle Paul speaking to young Timothy said, “Consider what I say and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.” You see, Paul had explained but he realized God was going to have to reveal the truth and understanding to Timothy’s heart in all the matters of life.

I’m glad God loves us and sent us His spirit to lead, guide, and direct us in His ways. It would be a miserable life if God had just left it up to us to make it on our own. We would be like that ship out on life’s sea without a sail, just drifting to and fro. But thank the Lord I have a captain who’s sailing this ship to my destination.

So the next time you feel the need to “straighten out” someone who is wrong, remember the Holy Ghost of God still has the power to accomplish His will and perform His work. What we need to do is pray with a heart of love that God will do His work in that life and get glory from it. The Holy Spirit agrees only with truth because He is truth. And as the Lord said in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”

Victory Baptist Church is having Vacation Bible School June 11-15, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:45. The theme this year is “Gone Fishing.” Kids will be able to play games, sing songs, make crafts, enjoy a meal, and most importantly, learn about Jesus. We would love to have your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, neighbor, cousin, etc. to join us. Van transportation is available. Just call Tim Harrison, Youth Director, at 427-0096 or 426-3669.

Tune in to WBCU 103.5 FM Sundays at noon for the Shining Light Broadcast. I preach a 15-minute message that I pray will be a blessing to those who listen. If you have a prayer concern, comment, or question, please write to: Voice of Victory, Attn: David Burrell, PO Box 1221, Pacolet, SC 29372, message me on Facebook, or e-mail me at daveburrell@live.com.
