The tank that sits inside the Union Save a Lot store is enticing to the store’s customers, so enticing that they gradually — and sometimes not so gradually — take it apart during the day, forcing the store’s staff to rebuild it at night.

“We built it out of packs of bottled water,” Store Manager Bobby Inman said. “It’s the first of our new promotional displays our customers see when they come in the store. These days its also the first place they stop with their buggy and stock up on bottled water. By the end of the day there’s a lot less tank than there was at the beginning and we have put it back together with more packs of bottle water. We like doing that.”

Inman said the tank was built to help promote Save a Lot’s summer-long Sizzling Summer Savings sales event which began May 29. All four of the Save a Lot stores in the Upstate owned by The Goodwin Group Holdings, LLC are participating in the event which Inman said began with a $250,000 investment by CEO Dwayne Goodwin to lower prices on all items carried by his stores.

“The money is going toward lowering prices for the summer,” Inman said. “The fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy products, bottled water and the other items we carry will be sold below cost all summer.”

In addition to the tank made of cases of bottled water and other store displays, Inman said there are new signs on the outside of the building advertising the Sizzling Summer Savings. The members of the store’s staff are also helping advertise the event, wearing new shirts which feature a pair of cowboy boots on the back with the store’s name, and the words “Sizzling Hot Summer Savings” and “Where saving you money is what we stand for.”

While the Sizzling Summer Savings will only be for the duration of the summer, Inman said they are part of the overall Save a Lot philosophy of providing its customers with quality products at the lowest possible cost.

“We’re lowering our prices to serve our customers,” Inman said. “It’s our way of way of doing our part to serve the people of Union County.”

Save a Lot is located at 410 N. Duncan Bypass, Union. The store currently employ 15 associates and is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. For more information about Save a Lot call 864-427-8811 and ask for Store Manager Bobby Inman.
