After denying any knowledge of how she’d been injured and then claiming he’d been in an argument with her that degenerated into physical violence, a Union man ended up in jail for allegedly assaulting a woman two nights in a row.
Stephen Wayne Brewington, Jr., 35, 755 N. Duncan Bypass, Union, is charged by the public safety department with criminal domestic violence second offense.
The incident report states an officer was dispatched early Monday morning to Room 117 at a motel at 755 N. Duncan Bypass in reference to a man beating on the door trying to get inside. The victim said that Brewington had assaulted her that night and the previous night. After the assault that night she’d ran out of their room to 117 where she said Brewington kept beating on the door trying to get in. She said the man staying in the room had called 911.
While the questioning the victim, the report states the officer noticed she had a large bruise above her left eye, a cigarette burn on the right side of her face, bruises on her forehead, and bruises on her left arm. The victim told the officer that the injuries were the result of the assault the previous night. When asked by the officer why she didn’t call 911 the previous night, the victim said Brewington would not let her. She said when Brewington assaulted her the second time he pushed her and she fell and busted her elbow.
The officer then asked the victim where Brewington was and she told him in room 125. The officer went to the room and knocked on the door but no one answered. He then sent another officer to bring back the manager and unlock the door. After the manager unlocked the door, the officer walked in and asked Brewington how the victim got her injuries and the report states Brewington replied he didn’t know. The officer then advised Brewington that the victim had large bruises on her face and arms and had said that he’d caused them. Brewington then said he and the victim had gotten into an argument and had hit each other, adding that he had a bruise with a bite mark on his arm. The officer then asked how the victim’s elbow had been injured and Brewington said he didn’t know.
Brewington was then placed under arrest and transported to jail.
More Criminal Domestic Violence
A Union man ended up in jail after he allegedly slapped a woman causing her to fall to the floor and lose consciousness.
David Lee Morman, 57, 125 Forest Circle, Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal domestic violence.
The incident report states an officer responded to an assault call at Morman’s residence Thursday night. The complainant said that as he came down the hallway and entered the living room he found the victim unconscious on the floor. He said he believed Morman had hit the victim. The man said that Morman is the caregiver for the victim who he said had suffered four aneurysms in the past causing her to need care.
When the officer spoke with the victim, the report states she said everything was going to be all right. The officer then asked the victim if she knew what had happened to her. The victim responded that she didn’t, but that everything was going to be okay. As the officer attempted to question the victim, the report states he noticed she had trouble with both her memory and her speech.
The officer then spoke to Morman who said he and the victim had gotten into an argument about something and she’d attacked him. The report states Morman said he then slapped the victim on the left side of her face causing her to fall.
Morman was then placed under arrest for criminal domestic violence on the grounds that he knew about the victim’s mental and medical condition caused by the anuerysms she’d suffered. He was then transported to jail and the report states the warrant for Morman’s arrest was based on investigation by police.
