UNION — Rufus Lyles Thomas, born on Nov. 16, 1947 in Union, SC, to the late Carrie Alice Thomas and William Hooker Sr., departed this life April 15, 2012 at his home.

Rufus was an International Truck driver for 33 years. He attended Lockhart Chapel Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a Mason and Shriner and also an adviser to the Easter Star.

He leaves to morn two daughters, Regina Thomas Daniels and Natasha Thomas; a wife, Barbara Thomas; several grandchildren; one brother, John Henry (Patricia) Hooker; one sister, Patricia (James) Sims; one sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Tucker; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; and a special friend, Mrs. Julia Jennings.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Paul Hooker, Jr.

Services will be held April 21 at 2 p.m. at Lockhart Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the services at the church.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Divine Mortuary.
