The Union County baseball team earned its first win of the Spring Break tournament on Wednesday, defeating Broome, 8-6.
After two tough losses to Dorman and Spartanburg, the Jackets began to resemble the team their fans are accustomed to seeing, scoring eight runs off of nine hits in the contest and playing an error less game for the first time in the tournament.
Keiston Smith was 2-4 with a solo home run to lead the Jackets. Mark Jeter contributed three hits and two RBI.
Cal Arnold, Devontae Glenn, Will Palmer and Keamond Eison each added hits for Union County.
Kemond Eison threw 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win for Union County while Jake Walton got the save with 1 1/3 inning pitched. Eison gave up 10 hits with five strikeouts and three walks while Walton gave up one hit with three strikeouts and one walk.
Spartanburg suffered their first loss of the tournament, falling to Dorman, 6-2 while Boiling Springs defeated Mallard Creek, 8-2.
