JONESVILLE — A woman was injured Wednesday morning when she was struck by a pickup truck while sitting outside a restaurant.

L/Cpl Billy Elder of the SC Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at 8:38 a.m. in the parking lot of the Forest Street Grill on Forest Street in Jonesville. Elder said a 1997 Chevrolet Pickup driven by William Long, 85, 2617 Meansville Road, Jonesville, was pulling into a parking space in front of the restaurant when the vehicle “unintentionally lurched forward” and struck a pedestrian.

Elder said the pedestrian, Lawana Moss, 34, 577 Gist Bridge Road, Jonesville, was sitting on a bench in front of the restaurant when she was struck by Long’s pickup truck. He said Moss was transported by ambulance to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The incident is still under investigation and Elder said no determination will be made on whether or not charges will be filed until after the investigation is completed.
