Siblings charged with assaulting each other

A sister and brother who each claimed the other attacked them ended up in jail last Thursday, charged with attacking each other.

Bridget Marjorie Smith, 30, and Charles Edward Smith Jr., 44, both of 101 Wells St., Union, are each charged by the Union Public Safety Department with assault and battery.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Thursday night to the Smiths’ residence in reference to an assault. Bridget Smith said her brother, Charles, had been drinking and got into an argument with her. She said that during the argument, her brother grabbed her around the throat and choked her.

The officer then spoke to Charles Edward Smith, Jr., who said his sister, Bridget, had hit him.

A witness then told the officer that Bridget did hit Charles.

The report states Bridget Smith wanted her brother charged while Charles Smith, Jr., wanted his sister charged. Both got their wish as the officer placed them both under arrest and had them transported to jail.

Another Assault And Battery

George Derek Robinson, 49, 175 Industrial Park Road, Union, is charged by the public safety department with assault and battery.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Thursday night to 175 Industrial Park Road, Apt. 5-A in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim said Robinson had come into the apartment and began to argue with the resident while intoxicated. When she told the resident to keep quiet, the victim said Robinson became angry and pushed her into a table, causing a bruise and swelling on her left forearm.

The report states the officer noticed there was a large bruise and some swelling on the victim’s arm which he photographed. He then placed Robinson under arrest and transported him to jail.

Incident

The following incident is being investigated by the public safety department.

Man Attacked

A man said he was attacked by another man while at a residence on Hicks Street though he couldn’t remember which residence.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Thursday night to the emergency room at Wallace Thomson Hospital in reference to an assault victim. The report describes the victim as very intoxicated and having a swollen eye. The victim told the officer he’d been on Hicks Street at a residence when he was assaulted. He did not, however, know which residence. He said a black male with dreadlocks wearing an orange, black and white shirt struck him about the head and face his fist.

The report states the victim appeared to have a contusion on his left and the back of his head. Due to his state of intoxication, the report states the victim had a difficult time explaining himself.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department.

A 14-year-old juvenile charged Thursday with disorderly conduct.

A 14-year-0ld juvenile charged Thursday with assault and battery.

Phillip Maurice Lawson, 27, 1209 Arthur Boulevard, Union, charged Friday with disorderly conduct.

Antonio Rocell Smith, 29, 1217 West Springs Highway, #17, Union, charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct.

Rashaad Aiken Green, 18, 610 N. Church St., Union, charged Wednesday with trespassing after notice.

Tyler Dean Hudson, 21, 101 Hicks St., Union, charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct.
