Attendance at this Thursday’s Dixie Youth and Dixie Boys Baseball League meeting is mandatory for those wanting to coach this season, a league official says.

In a statement released Friday, League President Tommy Ford announced that a mandatory coaches meeting would be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Union County Recreation Department. Ford said anyone planning on coaching a Dixie Youth or Dixie Boys team during the 2012 baseball season must be present. He said the meeting will be to determine who is interested in coaching and get them signed up.

Registration

Ford also announced that Dixie Youth and Dixie Boys registration for the 2012 season will continue every Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. until Feb. 26. He said registration will be held at the Union County Recreation Department.

Fees for Dixie Youth, Minors and Majors, are $55 per player, while fees for Dixie Boys are $60 per player. All fees are due at registration. Ford said parents of children wanting to play should also bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate when they register.

After Feb. 26, Ford said late registration fees will be $75 for Dixie Youth and $80 for Dixie Boys and will be due by Draft Day. Draft Day is tentatively scheduled for March 1.
