The Rose Hill Candlelight Society of Union held its annual ball on January 14, 2012 at 7 p.m. at The Spartanburg Marriott at the Renaissance Park, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Members and guests were greeted by Mrs. Frank Eugene Fisher, president, and Mr. Frank Eugene Fisher; Mrs. Stanley O’Neil Vanderford, vice-president, and Mr. Stanley O’Neil Vanderford, Mrs. Jerry Alan Lipscomb, recording secretary, and Mr. Jerry Alan Lipscomb; Mrs. Thomas Lee Sinclair, corresponding secretary, and Mr. Thomas Lee Sinclair; and Mrs. George Walter Bruce, treasurer, and Mr. George Walter Bruce. Other board members include Mrs. Philip David Maness, ball chair; Mrs. James Marvin Stepp, Jr., decorations chair; Mrs. Jimmy Carlisle Sherbert, mother’s chair; Mrs. James Scott Sherbert, presentation chair; and Mrs. David Lane Rogers, scrapbook/publicity chair.
Mrs. Frank Eugene Fisher welcomed members and guests. Mrs. Fisher also welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Brett Owens Anthony, Mr. and Mrs. John Frank Humphries, and Mr. and Mrs. William Sammie Scott as new members.
Dr. Michael Moreau Mahan, Master of Ceremonies, presented two young ladies, one son, and three brides and grooms.
Miss Eleni-Conalee Demetra Diamaduros, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Gus Diamaduros of Spartanburg, South Carolina and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pete Diamaduros of Union, South Carolina, is a sophomore at Wofford College. She was presented by her grandfather, Mr. Gus Pete Diamaduros. Her escort was her brother, Konstantine Peter Diamaduros.
Miss Laura Elizabeth Starling, niece of Mr. and Mrs. James Marvin Stepp, Jr. is a sophomore at the University of Southern California. She was presented by her uncle, Mr. James Marvin Stepp, Jr. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Hugh Starling of Atlanta, Ga.
Her escort was Mr. Keenan Bryar-Storey Rogers of Atlanta, Ga. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rogers.

Mr. Michael Everette Haney II, was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. George Vauban Ashmore, Sr. and is their grandson. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Everette Haney, Sr. of Prosperity, South Carolina. Mr. Haney is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dennis Langley, were sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ellis Langley, parents of the groom. Mr. Langley is a graduate of Wofford College and has a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Langley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Benjamin Glasgow, III of Conway, South Carolina. She is a graduate of Wofford College and has a Master’s degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University. Both Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dennis Langley are employed as auditors with PricewaterhouseCoopers and reside in Greenville, South Carolina.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Richard Lawson, were sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hayne Wilkes, III, parents of the bride. She attended the College of Charleston and is a homemaker. Mr. Lawson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Richard Lawson and is a graduate of NASCAR Technical Institute and is self-employed as an automotive technician.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hayne Wilkes IV, were sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hayne Wilkes, III, parents of the groom. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Wilkes is employed as a Student Recruiter for the University of South Carolina in Union, South Carolina. Mrs. Wilkes is a graduate of Limestone College. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lloyd Kirby of Union, South Carolina and is employed as a fitness instructor at the Union YMCA.
Debutantes and escorts participated in the grand march after the presentation. Following the invocation by Mr. Thomas Droman Sherbert, a seated dinner was served.
After dinner, Mrs. Frank Eugene Fisher and Mr. Fisher led the board in a waltz. Members and guests enjoyed dancing to the Headliners Band of Hilton Head, S.C.

The Rose Hill Candlelight Society held their annual tea on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Nicholson Mansion in Union, South Carolina. The Board of Directors hosted the tea for members to welcome the new debutantes.
A Mother/Daughter Brunch Party was held on October 8, 2011 at the Inn at Merridun. Hosting the luncheon were: Mrs. John Michael Adkins, Mrs. George Vauban Ashmore, Mrs. Russell Dean Brooks, Mrs. George Walter Bruce, Mrs. Tradd CeEdward Bruce, Mrs. Horace Glenn Corbett, Mrs. William Thomas Hickson, Sr., Mrs. Travis Baker Jenkins, Mrs. Randy Hugh Jenkins, Mrs. David Martin Keith, Mrs. Harold Eugene LeMaster, Mrs. Herman Bruce Parker, Mrs. Gordon Keith Roberson, Mrs. Stanley O’Neil Vanderford, Mrs. Talmadge DeWitt Wilkins, III, and Mrs. Timothy Gerrard Woodall.
A luncheon was held honoring the debutantes on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Mon Omi Morning Café. Hosting the luncheon were Mrs. Bennie Hilton Reynolds and Mrs. Tommy Lee Anthony.
A waltz party was held on Sunday, January 8, 2012 for debutantes. It was held at the Grace United Methodist Church.
