Who will be Union County’s Volunteer of the Year? Its Service Group of the Year? Small Business of the Year? Industry of the Year?

Those questions will be answered Thursday, March 22, at the Union County Chamber of Commerce Annual Members Banquet. The banquet, which will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church Family Life Center, honors the volunteer, service group, small business and industry who have distinguished themselves by their service to the community during the past year.

Executive Director Torance Inman said Friday afternoon the chamber is now accepting nominations from chamber members for each category.

“If you are interested in recommending a business or an individual for these respective awards, who is a current Chamber of Commerce member, please send your nominations to the Union County Chamber of Commerce no later than Friday, March 9,” Inman said. “A short written summary should accompany you nomination.

“It’s an opportunity for Union to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to Union County as a whole in each of those categories,” he said. “Far too often we fail to recognize those who unselfishly work toward the betterment and advancement of the community. The chamber looks forward to the opportunity to bring to light and recognize the contribution that these individuals make.”

Nominations should be mailed to The Union County Chamber of Commerce, 135 W. Main St., faxed to 427-9030, emailed to torance@unionsc.com, or by contacting the Chamber office at 427-9039.

Business After Hours

Inman also announced that the next Business After Hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Union County Museum. He said the event will be sponsored by Crimestoppers, Santuc Precision, Liberty Tax and the Union Rotary Club. Chamber members, their guests and any individuals associated with any of the sponsors or the museum are cordially invited to attend. The invitation is also extended to those who are interested in the chamber and its activities.
