SIMS BOYS

WOODRUFF — Sims’ boys’ basketball team defeated Woodruff 31-24 on Thursday.

Sims found itself in a familiar situation, being down 14-4 at halftime.

"In the first half, Woodruff denied the pass into the post.” said coach Mitchell Moss. “We play our inside-out game. Woodruff played great defense and we could not score so we could not press."

The Tigers came to life in the second half. Sims went on 15-2 run in the third, led by Keiston Smith, who scored 19 points (all in the second half), and great team defense.

"I challenged them during halftime and they accepted,” said Moss. “We were able to score, which allowed us to press."

Woodruff made a late run, but the Tigers were able to hold them off. Sims outscored Woodruff 27-10 in the second half.

Amtravlis Jones scored six points, Victor Ruth added four and Kalay Jones had two.

Sims is 5-5 in conference play and hosts Boiling Springs on Tuesday.

WOODRUFF — Sims’ girls’ basketball team fell, 36-28, to Woodruff.
