Miss Gossett-Mr. Knight exchange wedding vows

The wedding vows of Miss Christie Faith Gossett and Mr. Jared Richard Knight were solemnized in a double-ring ceremony Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, Union. The Rev. Jonathan Reid Vaughan, brother-in-law of the bride and the Rev. Benny Green officiated the 2 p.m. service.

A reception immediately followed in the church fellowship hall.

Wedding music was provided by the bridegroom, pianist and vocalist, Mr. Dan Browne, saxophonist of Durham, N.C., Mr. Tim Flowers guitarist of Dothan, Ala., and vocalists Miss Alyssa Knight, sister of the groom of Hilliard, Fla., Mrs. Emily Flowers of Dothan, Mrs. Kim Ruby, Tiffany Littlejohn and Lee Littlejohn, all of Union.

The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Kathy Alexander Gossett of Union. The groom is the son of Richard and Karen Knight of Hilliard, Fla.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a formal white gown of Italian matte satin designed exclusively for David's Bridal. The halter-style neckline featured a split front with beaded lace. The waistline was accented with an apple red sash atop an A-line skirt with beaded lace cascading to a chapel-length train. Her elbow-length veil of tulle, white roses and ribbon was designed and created by her grandmother, Betty Alexander.

Charity Gossett Vaughan of Buffalo was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Miranda Littlejohn and Miss Amy Bradley, both of Union, Miss Jessica Fisher of Buffalo and Mrs. Heather Liveright of Spartanburg. Melody Hope Farr of Union, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. Honor attendants wore sleeveless gowns of apple red satin with halter-style necklines, an A-line skirt flowing in front and back and detailed with a sheer satin sash tied in the back. The matron of honor carried a bouquet of two white and one red long-stemmed rose accented with a white ribbon, designed and made by the bride's grandmother, Betty Alexander. Bridesmaids carried bouquets of three white long-stemmed roses tied with a white ribbon, also designed by the bride's grandmother.

Miss Julia Whitney of Union was flower girl. Mr. Nathaniel Reid Vaughan, of Buffalo, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

The groom's father served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Jacob Jones, cousin of the groom, Mr. Noah Roulerson and Mr. Joshua Wade, all of Hilliard, Fla., and Mr. Lee Littlejohn of Union. Mr. Zachary Knight of Hilliard, brother of the groom was junior groomsman.

Mrs. Angela Alexander Farr, aunt of the bride tended the register.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She is employed as a first grade teacher with Union County School System. She is the granddaughter of Frank and Betty Barnett Alexander, Joretta Holcombe Hyatt, the late Billy Hyatt and Lester Gossett all of Union.

The groom, formerly of Hilliard, Fla., is a 2007 graduate of the Baptist College of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Music. He is employed with the Northgate Baptist Church, Greenville, as the Worship Leader. He is the grandson of Joyce and Bobby Durham and Paul and Joann Knight, all of Hilliard, Fla.

Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will reside in Union.
