Miss Union County Teen, Jordan Suber, will make her first public appearance Sunday during the Union Christmas Parade.
Miss Suber steps in to replace Amber Champion, who decided to relinquish her crown because of other obligations.
Miss Suber thanked Amanda Ferguson, local executive director of the Miss Union County and Miss Union County Teen pageants; and Melinda Wilburn, co-director, for the opportunity to serve as queen.
“And I thank Union County for allowing me to do this,” she said. “I'm excited. I am glad I will be able to represent Union County.”
Miss Suber, 16, is the daughter of Jim and Tammy Suber of Whitmire. Her sister, Jessica Suber, was Miss Union County in 2006. She now is a junior in the nursing program at Lander University who plans to further her education and become a neonatal nurse practitioner. Jordan and Jessica also have another older sister, Jennifer Coppedge.
A junior at Whitmire Community School, Miss Suber also hopes to major in nursing at Lander. She would like to work in the office of a pediatrician.
Her school activities include being a member of the Jr. Beta Club, FCA and Yearbook Staff, playing softball and tennis and being a varsity cheerleader. She also is a member of Whitmire Area Teens Committed to Him, a Christian youth group.
In July of 2009, Miss Suber will represent Union County in the Miss South Carolina Pageant. For her talent presentation she plans to clog. She began dancing lessons at age 2 and has taken clogging for 11 years.
Her platform is “Child Abuse and Neglect.”
“It was something that dealt with children that I felt like needed to be heard,” she said.
