Someone broke into a Union scrap yard for the second time in less than a month.

The incident at Lucky's Scrap Metal on 176 Callihan Road was reported Wednesday.

According to a report, a video from a security camera showed three people enter the property in a dark-colored Ford pickup around 4 a.m. They attempted to pull a backhoe out from in front of a trailer that housed materials. They were unsuccessful and left.

A padlock was cut off the main gate to gain entry to the property.

Two of the suspects had on dark clothing and a third had on a light colored hoodie and a headlamp.

The truck appeared to be a late model Ford four-door that was two wheel drive. The truck had a body kit, stepbars and what may have been a white sticker in the lower driver's side front windshield. The license plate had been removed.

On Nov. 17, someone broke into the scrap yard and took $13,000 worth of copper from a storage container.

A surveillance video showed two people dressed in dark clothing back into the yard in a white or light-colored extended cab pickup truck.

The truck is believed to be a late model Dodge or Ford F-150 or F-250.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call the sheriff's office at 429-1612 or Union County Crime Stoppers at 427-0800.
