William “Skip” Young Jr., 60, of 204 E. Hillcrest Ave., husband of Debbie Thompson Young died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Young was born June 14, 1948 in Union County, a son of Margaree Young and the late William Young Sr. He completed 25 years military service and was a Vietnam War veteran. He spent 21 years in the National Guard that included a tour of duty in Turkey during Desert Storm. Mr. Young worked at Timken & Co. for 18 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are three children, Dana (Gene) Young-Ellington and Gerard Young, both of Charleston, and Devin M. Young of the home; four sisters, Shirley Farr, Agnes (Maurice) Glenn, and Yvonne (Douglas) Mitchell, all of Union, and Kathy (Robert) Peake, of Buffalo; a brother, Melvin (Shirley) Young Sr. of Union; three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at McBeth Baptist Church. Burial, with full military honors, was held in St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends at the home.

The Gibson & Brown Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
