There are many things about Veterans Day that can stir emotions. Among them is watching the veterans, young and old, marching together, the singing of the National Anthem, the sound of taps echoing among the buildings, and the wreath laying at the memorial.
This year members of Friendship Baptist Church in Whitmire added to those emotions by sending out notes to more than 100 veterans thanking them for their service and telling them they are in their prayers.
This was done in addition to honoring members of their church in a special service last Sunday.
