In the summer of 2004, Pastor Ben Hill asked Tommy Fowler if he would put together a special Christmas concert at Lockhart First Baptist Church. Wanting to do something different from a traditional piano concert, Tommy asked his son, Brian, to help create a format that hadn't been done before in an “old fashioned” Christmas program.

Together they formed a program originally billed as the “Tommy Fowler and Friends Christmas Special,” which combined their family talents with those of their church family and friends. At Tommy's insistence, the name was changed the second year and “Carolina Christmas” was born. The result is a beautiful blend of classical Christmas carols, traditional Christmas hymns, moving choral anthems and the incredible instrumental pieces combining an assortment of musical instruments performed by talented musicians and singers.

The narrated evening has the designed purpose to lift praise to our Lord Jesus Christ, share the rich beauty of His Word and proclaim the true meaning of Christmas. “The Christmas Story” is brought to you in a unique way through scripture and song.

After numerous requests, organizers said they are proud to announce that there will be two program nights. Although each service will be somewhat different, organizers promise both will be perfect for you and your family to get joyfully excited about the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

The Sunday night service will include a tribute to our armed forces. The members of Lockhart First Baptist Church and Carolina Christmas said they wish to show their love and gratitude by honoring all men and women and their families who have served our country. With a special invitation to all that can and will, they ask that you come proudly dressed in uniform.

At such a critical, changing time in the history of our great nation, what greater way can we show our support and thankfulness to the ones that have served to keep us all safe and free. We want to humbly unite our hearts together thanking God for continually blessing this great nation and to prayerfully ask God to touch the hearts and minds of our newly elected officials.

All are welcome to join us for this free admission/love offering event on Saturday and Sunday evenings, Nov. 22 and 23 at 6 p.m. This year's program will be held at Lockhart First Baptist Church on 112 Mill St., Lockhart.
