Two Union men are accused of holding a knife to a man's neck and robbing him of $2.
Charged with armed robbery are Casey Aaron Roach, 21, and Joshua Elijah Falls, 22, both of 408 Meansville Road, Union.
The 29-year-old victim told Deputy Randy Manus and Sgt. Dee Haney that the side door of his home on 115 Mill St., Buffalo, was unlocked and Falls and Roach came in. He said Falls held a knife to his neck and told him to give him all his money.
The victim said he gave Falls $2.
He said as Falls and Roach left, he was calling 911 and Roach took the phone out of his hand and ran out the door.
Officers went to Creekside Mobile Home Park and found Falls. They searched him and found two $1 bills in his front pocket.
Falls told officers that Road had fled out the back door. Deputies located him at a nearby lot.
The victim's cell phone was found between the two lots.
Officers are looking for a third suspect in the case - the man who drove Falls and Roach to the victim's home.
Falls and Roach are being held in the Union County Jail.
Man arrested
A Carlisle man is accused of stealing a heavy decking plate from a warehouse.
Paul Kent Savage, 55, of 147 Brooklyn Ave., was charged Friday by the Union County Sheriff's Office with malicious damage to property, grand larceny and obtaining money under false pretenses.
Another arrest is anticipated in the case.
The victim told Lt. Al Black that someone took a steel decking plate from a loading dock of a warehouse on his property on 100 Boundary St. in Carlisle. The quarter-inch thick plate that was approximately 10 feet by 7 feet weighed more than 1,000 pounds. A support pier on the dock was damaged, rendering it structurally unsound. Tracks found in the soft dirt of the area indicated a single axle vehicle and a tandem axle trailer were used in the theft.
The deck plate was worth around $1,500 and damage to the loading dock was estimated at $200.
On Oct. 13, the deck plate was brought to Lucky's Salvage in Union and sold for scrap. Black charged Savage based on documentation and stills of a video of the transaction of the scrap sale.
Suspicious fire
The sheriff's office also is investigating a fire that occurred on 115 Poinsette St. early Monday morning.
The victim told Deputy Thom McAbee that someone set fire to trash in the back of a truck bed behind his house. He saw flames and called 911 around 1 a.m. The victim said he reported another suspicious fire in the last few weeks at his residence.
Monarch Fire Department put out the fire. The truck bed and a basketball goal were damaged.
Officer assaulted
David Francis Baldwin Jr., 36, of 118 North Fifth St., Lockhart, was charged Friday by the Union Public Safety Department with assault and battery and resisting arrest.
A report said officers were called to Pizza Hutt after a disturbance between the customer and the manager was reported.
The manager told officers that Baldwin was very loud, boisterous and using profanity. As Officer Robbie Vanderford attempted to serve Baldwin a trespassing notice at the request of the manager, Baldwin became more agitated and tried to leave. Officer Angela Cogdill attempted to stop Baldwin from leaving and he grabbed her right hand around the thumb area and pulled it away from the door.
Officer Mike Gregory, who was witnessing Baldwin's trespassing notice because Baldwin refused to sign it, heard Cogdill yell, “Don't touch me.”. The report said Gregory looked and saw Baldwin had Cogdill's right hand. Gregory attempted to arrest Baldwin and he shoved Gregory.
Baldwin continued to struggle and was told he would be pepper sprayed. He then complied and was handcuffed.
Cogdill was treated at Wallace Thomson Hospital for swelling and bruising to her right hand.
Arrest at the fair
Jonathan Edward McAbee, 31, of 502 Drugstore St., Buffalo, was charged Thursday with disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance.
A report said First Sgt. Troy Wright and Investigator Mickey Parker were working at the fair when they were told a man was on one of the rides who appeared to be intoxicated and there had been numerous complaints about him being unsteady on his feet.
Wright asked McAbee his name and noted McAbee's speech was slurred. Wright and Parker took McAbee into custody and found a quantity of orange pills in his right front pocket for which he had no prescription.
Thefts
A burglary was reported Friday on 219 May St. The victim told Cpl. Dell Mitchell that he found a pry bar outside his window, pry marks on the window and he is missing $200 from a plastic container in his bedroom.
On 101 Rice Ave., Charlie's Auto Sales, an employee told Officer David Lee on Friday that someone cut the catalytic convertor from a 1994 Jeep Cherokee and a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner. These parts are worth $300 each.
On 213 Thomson Boulevard, a victim reported to Capt. Tony Gregory that someone cut the lock from a storage building and took antique furniture and fishing rods. One piece was a domed cedar chest that contained items. Another was a flat table with decorative woodwork on the legs. The items stolen are worth $2,200.
On 319 Old Buffalo Road, a victim told Officer Mark Gregory on Thursday that she left her purse on the porch while she went to get her son at the fair. When she came back, it was gone and her cigarettes that had been in her purse were on the ground. The purse contained pictures, her food stamp card, birth certificates, medical cards, an I.D. card, Social Security cards and jewelry.
At the fair, a man operating a booth told Officer Leon Lancaster Friday that a young boy picked up a Daisy BB gun on display and ran away with it. The victim said he tried to locate the boy but couldn't. When he got back to the booth, someone had stolen $100 in cash he had wrapped in a plastic bag. The gun is worth $120.
