Whitmire men face drug charges

Four Whitmire men have been arrested in an ongoing drug sweep led by the Newberry County Sheriff's Office.

The sweep began just after 9 a.m. Friday with sheriff's deputies, Newberry and Whitmire police officers and SLED agents looking to serve arrest warrants on 23 suspects. It was the culmination of a year-long investigation that led to the filing of 19 charges of distribution of crack cocaine, 12 counts of distribution of crack cocaine within proximity of a school or park, two counts of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, and 13 counts of illegally obtaining prescriptions.
