WHITMIRE - Willie Mae Titus Gilliam, 80, of 126 Titus Road, Whitmire, widow of Bennie Gilliam Sr., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 in Wallace Thomson Hospital in Union.

A native of Union County, she was the daughter of the late Maude Titus. She was a member of St. Matthew AME Zion Church where she served as chair of the Deaconess Board. She was retired from United Merchants' Union Plant.

Survivors include two sons, Bennie (Alice) Gilliam Jr. of Whitmire and Douglas (Pamela) Gilliam of Newberry; one daughter, Fannie Mack of Whitmire; two sisters, Louise Williams and Sarah (Rev. Thomas) Worthy, both of Whitmire; a half brother, Calvin (Eula Mae) Henderson of Whitmire; a half sister, Rosa Lee Hunter of Whitmire; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 at St. Matthew AME Zion Church located at 499 Maybinton Road, Whitmire by the Rev. J.B. Robinson.

The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Arrangements are with the Michael A Glenn Funeral Home 2212 Santuc Carlisle Highway, Union.
