Rotations for Academy Time in grades 3-5 began last week at Foster Park Elementary. Academy Time was implemented to assist students with specific needs and to accelerate individual strengths. The students rotate to different teachers throughout the year based on individual needs. Leslie Owens, a fifth grade teacher at Foster Park, is shown leading a Junior Great Books discussion. The teachers use interpretive questioning to initiate higher level discussions with the students. Math, reading, and academic challenge classes are offered during these Academy Time rotations. The students enjoyed the change of pace and being able to "change" classes much like the high school students.
