Union County's junior varsity volleyball team defeated Greer 2-1 on Tuesday.

UCHS won 19-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Karley Ford and Christen England had strong serving games. Hannah Farr served two crucial points to win the second game.

Ford had two spikes and Tiffany Vaughan had one. Morgan Walker had two assists. Kayla Knox had some good hits to keep the ball alive.

“All players had playing time and were contributors to our wins,” said coach Sherry Jackson. “I was proud of our effort. We never gave up.”

UCHS JV (5-4) travels to Riverside on Thursday.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Greer defeated Union County's varsity volleyball team 3-2 on Tuesday.

GHS won 25-21, 25-21, 12-25, 25-27, 15-12.

Haley McCoy had 19 assists, a dig and a regular serve point. Hetti Millwood had two serve points.

Sonni McFarland had four aces, five serve points, seven digs and 17 kills. Britni Ward had 11 aces, 14 serve points, three digs and three kills.

Meredith Walker had an ace, eight points, eight digs and four kills. Paige Whitehead had four points and seven digs.

Ashley Williams had two digs. Megan Russell had four digs.

Morgan Whitener had four digs. Jessica Hall had seven blocks and three kills. Taylor Hughey had four points, an assist and five digs.

UCHS (3-9) travels to Riverside on Thursday.

WHS VOLLEYBALL

WHITMIRE - Southside Christian defeated Whitmire's varsity volleyball team 3-0 on Tuesday.

Scores were: 25-3, 25-7 and 25-4.

WHS (1-13) hosts Newberry Academy today.

UCDS LADY EAGLES

Union Christian Day School's Lady Eagles defeated Trinity 3-0 on Tuesday. Scores were: 25-14, 25-9, 25-6.

Team captain Hannah Manning led UCDS with 23 points, five aces and two kills. Taylor Cudd had 12 points and an ace. Sidney Bennett had nine points and an ace.

“They played like they did at the first of the year,” said coach Preston Bennett. “They did an awesome job and played really hard.”

The Lady Eagles (5-6, 5-4) will host Blessed Hope of York on Tuesday. The boys' game will follow.
