UCHS TENNIS

Union County's varsity girls' tennis team defeated Greer 7-0 on Monday.

In singles play, Lauren Harrison won 6-0, 6-0 over Anna Miller; Hilllary Smith won 6-1, 6-4 over Jessie Buckley; Abby Allen won 6-2, 6-1 over Lindsay King; Kelsey Harris won 6-1, 6-1 over Devin Gibson; Victoria Barker won 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) over Courtney Garrett.

In doubles play, Allen and Harris won 8-1 over Miller and Buckley; Rachel Jones and Kristen Martin won 6-0, 6-1 over Haley Johnson and Emily Griffin.

“This is a big week for us and it was good to start it out with such a good win,” said coach Kelly Jenkins.

UCHS (7-3) hosts Whitmire today.

UCHS GOLF

Byrnes defeated Union County's girls' golf team 176-228 on Monday at River Chase (Par 35).

UCHS results: Emily Kingsmore 53, Kristen Spencer 56, Taylor Peahuff 58, Briana Starks 59, Haley Palmer 61, Tatiana Ferguson 61, Madacyn Jett 63.

The Lady Yellow Jackets compete at the upperstate tournament on Oct. 17.

UCHS VOLLEYBALL

Laurens defeated Union County's varsity volleyball team 3-2 on Monday.

Scores were: 19-25, 25-12, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-13.

Sonni McFarland had nine regular serve points, a block, eight digs and seven kills. Britni Ward had four aces, three regular serve points, a block, nine digs and seven kills.

Jessica Hall had two blocks, three digs and five kills. Meredith Walker had a block, a dig and two kills. Haley McCoy had two aces, two regular serve points, three digs and 12 assists.

Paige Whitehead had five regular serve points and four digs. Ashley Williams had two aces, five regular serve points and four digs.

Megan Russell had a dig. Hetti Millwood had an ace and five regular serve points.

Taylor Hughey had an ace, two regular serve points, two digs and an assist. Laytesha Porter had a dig.

UCHS (3-8) hosts Greer tonight.
