CHESTER - The Union Christian Day Eagles defeated the Hawthorne Hawks 3-2 on Friday, in what has become a regular habit of falling behind in the match just to make a comeback in spectacular fashion.

After falling behind two games to one, the Eagles beat the Hawks 25-4 in the fourth game, with team captain Dustin Medford scoring 20 straight points on the serve. The Eagles then won the final game 15-5 to take the match. “Co-captain Grant Shetley played unbelievable ball in a stunning display of athleticism,” said coach Preston Bennett.

The Lady Eagles

The Lady Eagles lost 3-1 in a close match against the Lady Hawks.

After winning the first game of the match, the girls lost the next three, all close. The score of the final game was 26-24.

The Lady Eagles showed signs of improvement and with two games left in the season still have an opportunity to make the SCACS playoff tournament.

UCDS hosts Trinity on Tuesday.
