Union County will take the momentum of a win into region play this week.

Union County

UCHS got back in the win column with a 14-0 victory over Broome.

The defense looked great, holding Broome to 129 yards total offense and no points. Drell Smith recovered a Centurion fumble for a touchdown.

The offense finally got going with its double wing attack. Lamont Edney scored on a 35-yard run. UCHS had 145 yards total offense, 100 on the ground.

It will take a team effort this week, as Union County needs to get out of the gates quick in Region III-3A play.

“Greer has a good football team,” said coach David Lipsey. “They went through some growing pains last year with some young people. They got experience and are a much better football team this year. It will be a tough place to play, but I think we'll be ready.”
