The Yellow Jackets (2-3) travel to Greer (4-1) on Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
Greer
Greer is back after last year's off season, where the inexperienced Jackets finished 3-7.
This year, eight return on offense and six on defense. The experience has showed in wins over Woodruff, Berea, Greenville and Eastside.
Greer uses a multiple and spread offense, multiple and 4-3 on defense.
Players to watch are: Dominique Parks (jr., rb), Desmond Parks (sr., wr/te), Tymeco Gregory (sr., ol), Matt Holliday (sr., fs/k), Thomas Simmons (sr., wr) and Brad Holliday (sr., wr).
Speed,experience on the offensive line and 14 returners are strengths for the Jackets.
Last week, Greer dominated Eastside 62-14, leading 48-7 at halftime.
Dominique Parks rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Jonathan Winter rushed for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
Quarterback Efferlan Williams rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, while passing for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Desmond Parks, who has committed to Florida, had a touchdown catch, as well as Brad Holliday.
Union County
UCHS got back in the win column with a 14-0 victory over Broome.
The defense looked great, holding Broome to 129 yards total offense and no points. Drell Smith recovered a Centurion fumble for a touchdown.
The offense finally got going with its double wing attack. Lamont Edney scored on a 35-yard run. UCHS had 145 yards total offense, 100 on the ground.
It will take a team effort this week, as Union County needs to get out of the gates quick in Region III-3A play.
“Greer has a good football team,” said coach David Lipsey. “They went through some growing pains last year with some young people. They got experience and are a much better football team this year. It will be a tough place to play, but I think we'll be ready.”
