“The girls played excellent the first game,” said coach Yoneko Washington. “We served and executed well. In the last two games, though we won, we lost focus and made many mental mistakes. I am excited about the win, but I can't wait until our next practice, so we can continue to prepare mentally and improve on our overall skills.
“I am proud of the ladies for persevering. Though things may have gotten tough and it may not have been as pretty as we would have liked it to be, we still pulled out the victory.”
Jessica Hall served well. She served 18 times, having seven aces and nine regular serve points. She also had three kills and a dig.
Britni Ward had seven aces, four regular serve points and four kills. Sonni McFarland had four aces, seven regular serve points and three kills. Paige Whitehead had two aces, two regular serve points and a dig.

Russell, Ashley Williams, Iyauna Gist, Morgan Whitener, Hetti Millwood and Laytesha Porter did a good job focusing and being ready to play, Washington said.
“The ladies are working hard and we look forward to the games ahead,” said Washington.
