An event on Saturday will give people a chance to bid on some interesting items, enjoy a hot dog and raise money for a good cause.

From 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Team Aruba and Food Lion will host an “Autism Speaks” fund-raiser in the supermarket parking lot. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be sold and a silent auction will be held. Auction bids will be accepted until 1:30 p.m. Auction items include televisions donated by Disney, a cocktail table set donated by Ivey's Home Furnishings, gift certificates, Union County High School reserved seat football tickets, Riverbanks Zoo tickets, Wofford College football tickets, merchandise autographed by Richard Petty, fishing equipment donated by Hank Parker and certificates for oil changes and brake jobs.

“We are doing everything we can to raise money for ‘Autism Speaks,'” said Gator Hudson, a volunteer and with his wife, Betsy, the parents of Kyle Hudson, who has been diagnosed with autism.

All money will be contributed toward a walk to raise money for autism awareness and research that will be held in October.

Anyone wanting to contribute silent auction items may call Hudson at 762-6301.

Information also can be found on Kyle's blog, autisticourchunkymunky.blogspot.com.
