Two of the four incumbent members of the Union County Board of School Trustees are opposed for re-election in November.

Filing for the Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7 school board seats is now open. The seats are held by trustees B.J. McMorris, Randy George, Kakie White and Manning Jeter, respectively. All four have said they will seek re-election.

As of this morning Mrs. McMorris, Mrs. White and Jeter had filed to run. Mrs. Morris is seeking her second term while Mrs. White and Jeter are each seeking their third terms. George, who is seeking his fifth term, had not filed.

Jantzen Childers and Charles Lott Sr. have filed to run for the District 2 seat while Barbara Byrd has filed to run for the District 7 seat.

Filing for the school board seats is open until noon Aug. 15. There is no fee but candidates must fill out the necessary paperwork at the Union County Voter Registrar's Office. For more information call the registrar's office at 429-1616.
