Deputies are investigating a home invasion and assault reported in Monarch early Monday morning.

According to a report, deputies were dispatched to 331 Osborne St. around 2 a.m.

They found Robbie Shetley, 45, standing in the front yard bleeding severely from his nose. Shetley also had cuts and bruises under his left eye. Shetley refused medical attention and would not cooperate with deputies.

Another man, Brandon Clint Mobley, 18, also had injuries. Mobley said he and Shetley were in a storage building behind the residence, which is where they live. They said a man kicked open the door, rushed in with a pump-style shotgun and demanded money from them. Shetley told him to get out and the man struck Shetley with the barrel of the gun multiple times in the face.

A second man entered the building. The first man turned the gun on Mobley and began poking him in the head with the barrel. Mobley said he gave the man $30 in cash. The two suspects then fled on foot. One ran toward Hancock Street and the other ran towards Osborne Street.

The suspect with the gun was a black man, around 6 feet tall with a medium build and short hair. He was wearing red pants, a red shirt, a red hat and had a red bandana round his face.

The second man, also black, was over 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black shirt, black hat, blue jeans and had a black bandana around his face.

A white Cadillac Escalade was spotted on Osborne Street 10 minutes prior to the call. It later was spotted coming out of Monarch and turning onto Siam Street by city officers about five minutes after the call.

The Escalade was located at the American Inn on North Duncan By-Pass. It belongs to an 18-year-old Union woman. She was in a room with a 16-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man. The 18-year-old told Johnson she and the others had been in the motel a while and were asleep when deputies and public safety officers arrived.

Johnson noticed that the Escalade's hood was still warm. It also was parked on the opposite side of the motel from the room in which she and the others were staying.

The woman said she had been visiting someone in the Peach Orchard Road/Osborne Street earlier. She said another man had been in the vehicle earlier; he was someone she had given a ride to and she didn't know his name. She said they had dropped off the man at the BP Station in Monarch.

Officer Leon Lancaster was at the station when an Escalade drove by and turned onto Siam Street. A passenger did not get out.

The man in the room was taken into custody by public safety officers on an outstanding bench warrant. When officers knocked on the door, he was in bed with his head covered but was fully clothed.

Photos were taken at the robbery scene, including ones of Shetley, who said he did not want any help from the sheriff's office. Mobley said he also didn't want to pursue charges.

Man arrested

Brandon Omar Jeter, 21, of 105 Horseshoe Circle, Union, was charged Friday with pointing a firearm. A warrant signed by Cpl. Tommy Hart said Jeter pointed a .32 caliber Keltec semi-automatic handgun to the back of the heard of Ronald Christopher Trapp during an argument at 105 Horseshoe Circle.

Fight at Shrine Club

Deputies are trying to determine who broke a Union man's jaw during an altercation at the Shrine Club on 2731 Lockhart Highway early Saturday morning.

The victim, 21-year-old Kennedy J. Garrett, was treated in the emergency room at Wallace Thomson Hospital. He told Sgt. Jimmy Johnson that he was standing on the crowded dance floor when he was blind-sided on the right side of the face with a hard object. Garrett said he did not know who struck him and he could not remember who was standing close to him that might have witnessed the incident.

The report said deputies had responded to a call at the club earlier in the night to clear the parking lot following the party. Prior to Johnson's arrival, someone fired a gun in the parking lot.

Thefts

Two women apparently were taken advantage of by men they became acquainted with and agreed to meet at a hotel.

The victims, two sisters who are 19 and 20, told Johnson that the older woman's purse, cell phone and cell phone charger were stolen from their room at the Palmetto Inn Saturday. The purse contained $20 and the room key. The victims said the suspects were four black men, possibly from Greenville, who were riding in a black, four-door Intrepid.

The women said they met the men on the Internet and invited them to the motel for sex. They said they did not know the names of the men or their addresses.

At Nixon's storage units on 461 Duncan Ave., Buffalo, someone stole a three-ton air conditioner unit. The power box was damaged when the cables and lines running to the unit were cut. The incident was reported Saturday. The victim told Johnson the unit is worth around $3,000.

At the Salvation Army Community Center on 489 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, an employee told Johnson on Saturday that someone had stolen the center's X-Box 360 game console and controls, which are worth around $600. The theft occurred while the center's power was out due to a storm.

Computers at the center were stolen last week in another incident.

An investigation is continuing.

On 212 Catherine St., a bicycle was reported stolen on Sunday. The victim told Officer Scott Hood with the Union Public Safety Department that she left her aqua blue and white Mountaineer mountain bike on the front porch and when she came home from church it was gone. It is worth $300.

Vandalism was reported at 112 West Main St., Union Four Square Church. The victim told Officer Dean Allen that she came to church Sunday around 2 p.m. and found that someone had thrown eggs on the front glass door. No damage estimate was listed on the report.

On 524 Edwards Road, three put bull dogs were reported stolen from the back yard. The victim told Deputy Russell Roark the dogs were on chains and are worth $200. The theft was reported Thursday.

On 2229 Lockhart Highway, a victim told Cpl. Wendy Childers on Saturday that someone stole her Southland 20-inch push mower from the front yard. The mower is worth $250.
