All four members of the Union County Board of Trustees whose seats are on the November ballot say they will seek re-election.

Filing for the Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7 school board seats is now open. The seats are held by trustees B.J. McMorris, Randy George, Kakie White and Manning Jeter, respectively.

Mrs. McMorris, who also serves as board chairman, said Monday she will seek a second term.

“I've enjoyed working with the school system,” she said. “It's been a great experience and I want to continue working to improve the education system in Union County.

Jeter said he will seek a third term, pointing out that the board has taken a number of steps including consolidating the high schools to improve education and educational facilities in the district.

“I feel the eight years I've been part of the board we have accomplished a lot,” he said. “I don't feel it is about me but it is about the children. I stressed consolidation to better education and provide better educational facilities. I think people across the county now see that I was telling the truth about the school buildings.”

Mrs. White said she will seek her third term on the board while George said he will seek his fifth.

Filing for the school board seats is open until noon Aug. 15. There is no fee but candidates must fill out the necessary paperwork at the Union County Voter Registrar's Office. For more information contact the registrar's office at 429-1616.
