Two more Union businesses have reported break-ins, including a law office not far from downtown.

A Union Public Safety Department report said an employee of Workman Law Office on 108 Gage Ave., told Officer Rusty Young that he came to work around 6 a.m. today and found someone had pulled an air conditioner out of the window and entered the building.

The office had been rambled through but nothing was thought to be missing at the time of the report.

At Kar Connection on 207 South Duncan By-Pass, a break-in was reported Monday.

The owner told Cpl. Tommy Hart he came to work and found someone had broken out a rear window, shoved a large filing cabinet aside and entered his office. A small bag of loose change was stolen. Damage was estimated at $300.

A break-in at City Tire and Lube on 107 Palmer St. was discovered Saturday.

Since June 13, several downtown businesses have been broken into, including two barber shops, an insurance office and a dentist office.

Gas drive-off

A woman used a child to assist her in the theft of gas from a local convenience store Monday.

The cashier at Li'L Cricket on 706 Lakeside Drive told Officer Eddie Williams that a woman in a white Honda Civic pulled up to the pump and attempted to use a debit or credit card. She then sent a boy inside who appeared to be 3 or 4 and he asked the clerk to turn on the pump.

The driver then pumped $20.09 worth of gas (a little over five gallons) and left.

An investigation is continuing.
