The Union County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fire that consumed a mobile home in the Enoree Community Wednesday.

Cross Keys, Buffalo and Cross Anchor fire departments were called to the vacant trailer on 14322 Highway 56 around 6 p.m. A firefighter who arrived at the scene reported the trailer was already destroyed and firefighters needed to work to protect a house next door.

The owner of the mobile home, Barbara Killien, told Sgt. Jimmy Johnson with the sheriff's office that the trailer was not connected to power and she was using it for storage. She said the house next door belongs to her father.

The trailer was valued at $5,000.

Woman in wheelchair claims assault

A 60-year-old Carlisle woman told Johnson Wednesday a man intentionally struck her motorized wheelchair with a trailer he was pulling.

The victim said the incident occurred on July 4. She said she was traveling out of her son's driveway at the intersection of Academy Street and Town Street when she noticed the suspect was backed into the driveway loading scrap metal onto a trailer he was towing. She said she stopped and confronted the suspect, telling him he had no business on the property. After she moved into the intersection, she said the suspect pulled out of the driveway. She said as he passed her, he cursed at her and then swerved over to the edge of the road toward her. She said the back part of the trailer struck her and the chair and spun her around and into two trash cans that were next to the road. She knocked over the trash cans.

The report said Johnson noted the woman had an abrasion on her right knee and a bruise on the inside of her bicep area. She complained of a bruise on her right hip. There were some scratches noticeable on her wheelchair.

An investigation is continuing.

Burglary

On 150 Joe Walker Road a woman told Johnson Wednesday that someone entered her home and took her .32 caliber H&R New England Firearms revolver. The gun is worth $250.
