CARLISLE - Lauree Jeter Thompson, 79, of 511 Pinckney St., Carlisle, widow of Charles W. Thompson, died July 5, 2008 in Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

A native of Union County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Jeter, Sr. and the late Bell Jeter. She attended Union County Schools, was a member of the St. Luke AME Zion Church and was retired from United Merchants' Union Mill.

Survivors include two sons, Norris (Eunice) Thompson of Atlanta, Ga.. and Bruce Thompson of Carlisle; two daughters, Betty Thompson of Carlisle and Dorothy Thompson of Culver City, Calif.; one brother, Lawrence (Dora) Jeter, Jr. of Carlisle; one sister, Elizabeth Huckstep of Detroit, Mich.; a granddaughter reared in the home, Angela (Calvin) Young of Union; six additional grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Arrangements are with the Michael A. Glenn Funeral Home Union.
