Joey Eugene Dawkins Sr. 50, of 152 Sunny Acres Road, Union, died June 19, 2008 in Newberry Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Dawkins was born Sept. 5, 1957 in Weirton, W.Va., a son of Mrs. Bessie Moore Dawkins of Union and the late Gahe Dawkins Jr. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. A graduate of Union High School, he was a maintenance supervisor at Dillon Technology Center. Mr. Dawkins was formerly married to Brenda Rogers of Hartsville. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Nelson and Lillie Moore.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, Joey Eugene Dawkins Jr. of Hartsville; two daughters, Carla Lakatisa (Desmond) Thomas and Gabriel Nicole Dawkins, both of Hartsville; a brother, Haskell (Brenda) Dawkins of Adamsburg; a sister, Brenda (Fletcher) Kershaw of Union; and one grandchild.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at St. Paul Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. A.L. Brackett.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be until 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at the Union Community Funeral Home, 219 W. Main Street.
