Man gets five years on drug charges

A Union man who was arrested last year in a drug sweep by public safety officers and county deputies was given a five-year prison sentence Monday.

Everette Miller, 35, of 911 North Church St., pleaded guilty to distribution of crack cocaine, second or more offense.

Miller was arrested on April 13, 2007 and accused of selling drugs to an undercover operative. At the time of Miller's arrest, Chief Sam White of the public safety department said Miller and several others had been the subjects of a three month investigation conducted by Investigator Mickey Parker with Lts. David Kitchens and John Sherfield of the sheriff's office.

The following people pleaded guilty Monday in General Sessions Court before Circuit Judge John C. Hayes III of Rock Hill:

Sadie Erwin, 206 Westview Drive, Union, to assault and battery, 30 days or $150 due on June 5.

Sharon Erwin, 217 Gault Ave.., Union, to assault and battery, 30 days or $150 due on June 5.

Christopher Garner, 1917 Main St., Buffalo, to resisting arrest, on year suspended to one year probation, 48 hours public service and $500 to the public defender fund.

Kyle Gory, 410 Rogerstown Road, Jonesville, to possession of marijuana, 30 days, suspended; to possession of a Schedule 3 controlled substance, six months suspended to one year probation and $500 to the public defender fund.

Sherri Kirby, 4731 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway, to possession of a Schedule 3 narcotic, six months suspended to one year probation, $500 to the public defender fund; to simple possession of cocaine, one year suspended to one year probation.

Robbie Leonard, 104 Mill Ave., Union, to simple possession of marijuana, 30 days or $100.

Sharon Moore, 1201 Old Buncombe Road, Union, to use of a vehicle without owner's consent, given credit for time served.

Luther Pearson, 103 Westminster Circle, Union, to unlawful carrying of a pistol, one year or $100, 30 days to pay.

Brandon Poole, 1072 Hamrick St., Gaffney, to second-degree burglary, given credit for time served.
