Police and fire departments in Jonesville are investigating a fire that destroyed a mobile home Wednesday night.
Firefighters were called to the home of Thomas Scott on 426 South Main St. around 10:12 p.m.
Jonesville Fire Chief Jimmy Wilkins said Scott and two other men had been at the mobile home and left. A passerby spotted the flames and called 911.
"By the time we got there, it was a ball of fire in the living room," Wilkins said.
The mobile home, valued at $10,000, was a total loss and is owned by a relative of Scott who lives in Union.
The trailer continues to be roped off by yellow "Do not cross" law enforcement tape. Wilkins said the floor in the structure is unsafe.
"We're still waiting to talk to one of the subjects who was there, that's why we haven't made a ruling yet," Wilkins said.
Bonham and Kelly-Kelton fire departments were called to assist Jonesville in fighting the blaze.
Break-in
The Union Public Safety Department is investigating a break-in reported Friday at A&O Car Wash on 300 North Pinckney St.
According to a report, Kenny O'Shields told Sgt. Larry Robinson that he found a storage room door standing open. Someone broke into the change machine and took between $400 and $500 worth of quarters.
Officers found someone had entered the room through the ceiling of the automatic car wash stall and then exited through the door. Damage was estimated at $300.
