Another charge has been filed against a Union man who escaped from the county detention center on Monday.

Lee Anthony Evans, 48, of 106 Pinedale Ave. was charged Wednesday by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

Evans walked through a gate and climbed a fence at the detention center early Monday morning and remained on the lam until Wednesday morning when officers spotted him going into Bi-Lo on the Duncan By-Pass.

Officers were in the area because Evans had accosted his wife earlier at their home and tried to get her to take him away in their car.

Evans' wife said he pulled a knife on her and tried to take their car. Her daughter intervened, the car rolled backward and struck a fence and Evans fled.

Evans also is charged by the Union County Sheriff's Office with escape.
