Faye Tucker Byrd, 81, of Woodlawn Manor Apartments, Union, widow of William A. Byrd, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Regional Hospice Home.

Mrs. Byrd was born in Union, Nov. 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Walter Tucker and Lenoria Davis Tucker. She retired from Excel Hosiery Mill and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faye Teague Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a daughter, Dianne B. Hendricks and husband Jimmy; a son, Steve Byrd; two brothers, Floyd Tucker and wife Mary, and Hugh Tucker and wife Linda, all of Union; five grandchildren, Robin Williams, Angie Ramsey, Allyson Williams, Erica Long and husband D.J., and Tracy Butler and husband Roy; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Ramsey, Makayla Bennett, Paiden Long, Blyth Long, Garrett Butler and Megan Butler.

Mrs. Byrd was predeceased by two brothers, Leroy Tucker and Marvin Tucker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Richard Brown, Francis Ramsey, Randy Sinclair, D.J. Long and Will Jolly.

The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Gene Rector, Bobby Vaughan, Raymond Addison, Ted Burris and Dr. P.K. Switzer Jr. Friends and neighbors at Woodlawn Manor Apartments are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening, Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church Building Fund, 1431 Lockhart Highway, Union, S.C. 29379 or to Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Dianne and Jimmy Hendricks, 212 Spruce Street, Union, S.C.
