A Lockhart man is accused of threatening a child with a sword.
George Richard Queen, 29, of 402 Summitt Drive was charged Wednesday by the Union County Sheriff's Office with assault with a deadly weapon.
On March 27, deputies were called to Queen's house after a 22-year-old woman said Queen became upset with her and the child. He got a sword off the bedroom wall, walked into the living room, pointed it at the child and said he would “cut her up.” The child called 911.
Queen was taken to Wallace Thomson Hospital to be evaluated. According to his booking sheet from the Union County Jail, Queen was taken into custody at Central Carolina Behavioral Center.
He is being held in the Union County Jail on $35,000 surety bond.
Man arrested
Luther Lynn West, 40, of 120 Dewey Circle was charged Wednesday with obtaining goods by false pretenses.
A report said a worker for J&L Express of Greer told Sgt. Dee Haney that West ordered some medication that was delivered by the company. West took the package from the driver and then handed the driver an empty envelope. The report said West was supposed to pay for the medication when he received it.
West then slammed the door in the driver's face and fled out the back door into a wooded area behind the trailer.
After a search, West was found about 100 yards behind the trailer. He told officers he threw the medicine in a creek. Brackins found it under some leaves in the area where West was located. Out of 180 tablets, 165 remained. West said he took about 10 pills. He was taken to Wallace Thomson Hospital for treatment.
