Lonnie Foster, 79, husband of Frances Jo Woodson Foster, of 141 Sunny Acre Road, Union, died at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Foster was born in Union May 5, 1929, a son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Dogan Foster Johnson. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and was formerly employed at United Merchants in the opening room. He was a member of the Home Boys and Home Girls Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, John Woodson, Kelvin Foster, Earl Foster, Willie Means, all of Union and Keith Foster; daughters, Leathia (Bruce) Talley, Anna Jeter, both of Union, Sandra Foster of Boiling Springs, Lila Dawkins of Spartanburg, Elizabeth (Roland) Lindsay of Camden; brothers, Haskell Foster of Spartanburg, Felix Foster Union, Roosevelt H. Foster, Willie Foster, Grant Foster and Milton Foster, all of Gaffney; sisters, Christine Steele of Charlotte, N.C., Alice Walls and Ollie Mae Washington of Shelby, N.C., Essie Goode and Elmira Gault of Union; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Maple Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. James Farr Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the funeral home.
The family is at 141 Sunny Acre Road, Union.
